Bulgaria 27 July: Pleven - Sofia

As we set off early for a long day's run - nearly 200K, the team is rearing to go - we will end today in Sofia Bulgaria and there is a buzz that says, the destination is well worth the trip.

Sunflower-power sustains us, with brilliant yellow crops by the hundreds.

Ah, the simple life, living close to the land.

In bloom.

Go team, go! Let us feel your glorious influence!

Children listen to a story from the road.

Pravec's town band delights us with a welcome tune.

Every village has a dream, a vision and a story and we get to celebrate and invigorate them all; we are blessed.

Bumble-bee heaven.

Nature's feather-duster.

Every now and again, we get a glimpse of ancient Rome. Is this one of those times? What do you think?

We are all chasing starlight.

A cricket poses for a soulful snapshot.

Botevgrad welcomes us with a grand parade.

A literal frenzy every few hours thrills the writer and the rest of the team.

"This travelling Harmony torch is SO COOL!"

Majorettes practice a very athletic dance form; kudos, girls!

Old friends greet each other upon arrival in Sofia.

Famous Bulgarian rock star Koceto Kalki surprises the crowd with an as-yet unreleased track, inspired by the fight against global warming. Rocking Realism.

Sarah turns into a child pop star and joins the kids performing on stage.

You guessed it - Bulgaria staying true to the art of dance.

Koceto Kalki and company, on board with the beauty world order.

Member of Parliament Mincho Hristov and his friend Simion finally greet the torch.

A wedding guest embraces the coalescing of two parties.

Journalist Daniela Kaneva is honoured with the Torch Bearer Award for her long-term commitment to the World Harmony Run.

In the family.

Between friends.

At the soul of every human being.

Young and young-at-heart.

We ended the day at the memorial garden of Bulgarian spiritual teacher Petar Danov; Amen to that.

The gardens are immaculately kept.

Blue hues.

Optimism abounds.
