Germany 24 May: Hamburg-Harburg - Ratzeburg

The day started with two local meetings, one in Sprötze and one in Buchholz.

As we had already passed through those places yesterday, we just drove back with the team.

In Sprötze we met with people from the community who were only able to meet with us on a Saturday.

In Buchholz we met the mayor, who was inaugurating a family office in the city hall.

We presented the Run and handed over the torch to the mayor as well to many of the small kids gathered there...

Back to Hamburg-Harburg to start our running day in the pedestrian area, with a short presentation.

Our run through picturesque Hamburg with all its old Hanse-buildings and canals was a real experience. We went to the famous city hall and finally we left the city, heading east.

We really enjoyed the beautiful countryside...

In Trittau we met the mayor, officials from the European Union and spectators in a small park next to a romantic little lake.

It was a very hearty meeting with lots of small talk. A great musician performed varieties of the World Harmony Run song and finally, after refreshments, the mayor put on the WHR T-shirt and all of us run a few steps together for Harmony!

Local runners, who carried the torch to the next community, led us out of Trittau, passing the famous Napoleon bridge (forbidden to cars, so it can last a little longer...)

Our international team was reinforced tremendously by our German Music Group task force, which never missed an opportunity to perform surprise gigs along the road!

In the afternoon we arrived in Mölln, a German city famous for Till Eulenspiegel. His jokes, performed on the local population centuries ago, are still well known...

A group of runners welcomed us there and joined us all the way (13km) to Ratzeburg, our final destination for the day.

A few km before the finish four little girls joined in, having just finished their track & field meeting successfully! They took the torch to the city hall where the mayor welcomed us.

The torch was handed over to the mayor of Ratzeburg, who turned out to be a real sportsman: he took the torch and carried it for a large loop around the city hall.

Finally he invited all the runners for some great ice-cream. Only our two Russian girls missed the invitation, as they got locked into the city hall by mistake!

Fortunately they could "escape" and we ended an inspiring day happily!
