Corsica 28 April: Sagone - Sartene

After a good night's rest in the convent of St. Francois in Vico, located most beautifully in the mountains, we started our running day in Sagone.

We are already used to the constant hill work. A nice 500m uphill part gave us a first impression of today's stage.

Close to Ajaccio, runners waited and carried the torch into the city.

Napoleon Bonaparte...

Ajaccio is the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte and his presence is omnipresent.

The mayor received the torch...

The mayor welcomed us in the city hall and after a short introduction to the history of Ajaccio we received a special gift: sweets!

With stomachs full of sweets we made our way up to 800m altitude, which is an impressive climb if one considers that we had to start from sea level...

We reached Propriano and the local athletics team carried the torch to the stadium.

Some of our runners got the opportunity to try their skills in javelin...

We ended our running day at the convent of St. Francois in Sartene.
