France 6 May: St. Cyr sur Mer - Marseille

In the morning we started in St. Cyr sur Mer. The city representative for sports welcomed us and after some refreshments we set out for today's stage.

In St. Cyr sur Mer there is a replica of the Statue of Liberty (which is also a replica of a statue in France)...

In La Ciotat we visited the Calenque de Figuerolles - a cliff the shape of an eagle, with a beautiful bay...

We went all the way up to Cap Canaille and followed the coastline, a very impressive route. Not the shortest way to Marseille, but the best one!

In Marseille the Mayor of the 4th and the 5th districts, Mr. Bruno Gilles welcomed us and received the torch with warm words.

The mayor gave a warm speech...

We offered the Torch Bearer award to the mayor and we received nice gifts as well.

We ended our day at Notre Dame de la Garde, a church high above the city of Marseille.

A great view was the reward.

The famous prison of Marseille...
