Corsica 26 April: Bastia - Corbara

For the first time the World Harmony Run torch arrived in Corsica, one of the pearls of the Mediterranean Sea. We were all eager to discover the beauty of nature that Corsica is famous for!

The hard way to go to Corsica...

After one day of travel we left Italy behind and arrived in Bastia.

The first sunrise for the WHR in Corsica...

Our friends from the monastery in Bastia...

After staying over for a good night's rest in the Franciscan Monastery of St. Antoine in Bastia, we started into the hills of Northern Corsica.

Kids in St. Florent...

We had our first contact with the Corsican hills right after we left Bastia. We went up and down constantly, all the way to St. Florent.

The mayor, some kids and more spectators welcomed us and we received nice refreshments.

We went on, through a part of Corsica which is called "the desert" as there are mainly hills and rocks there. Still, the place had a fascinating appeal!

Finally we reached the Dominican Convent in Corbara, a beautiful old building on the top of the hill (more hill work!).

A typical sleeping place on the WHR...

We were invited for a good dinner with the monks and they told us about their spiritual disciplines and ideals.
