Hungary 21 September: Budapest - Kartal

A great start of the day: running with the futures olympic champions.

And followed by meeting with real olympic champions:Domotor Zoltan-president of the Hungarian Olimpic Champion Club, Nagy Imre, Dr. Kamuti Jeno, Nemeth Ferenc, Polyák Imre, Varga János, Hámori Jeno, Szentmihályi Antal, Kőbán Rita, Ambrus Miklós, Tatai Tibor, Dr. Kolmár János,Fulep Sándor, Gelei Jozsef.


We also made the first steps for harmony!

Dr. Pál Schmitt, President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee and Protocoll Directorof the International Olympic Committee, recieves the Torch Bearer Award for his tireless efforts in promoting sports. And he got a special gift: a torch from the Run that will be placed in his office.

Kőbán Rita, two times olympic champion in kayaking receives the Torch Bearer Award as well as all the champions. She encouraged the children to do sports and be the best in their field, so that they will be the future champions.

Knapek Edina training for the London Olympics- in fencing and Fulop Sándor, world champion in pentathlon.

Csillag Rita, the officer from FAO of UN introduced the organisation and the Hungarian UN agencies. And spoke about the common goals of World Harmony Run and the UN. Emphasising the significance of the International Day of Peace.

Soon we find ourselves on the road again, heading towards Fót, with a group of enthusiastic children.

The students of Free Waldorf School of Fót played the hymn of the run on the recorder and they were singing for us as well.

Thank for the teachers for the beautiful performance.

Our next meeting is in Veresegyház, in the Honey Valley Elementary School, the little girls suprised us with their gymnastic show.


They were really flexible!

Pallag Katalin, the head of the Village House and Library of Erdokertes, carrying the torch for a few steps.

In Iklad, Madarász István the mayor greeted the runners with heartfelt words, and the brass band played us german songs, since this village was originally german.
