Italy 28 March: Terni - Perugia

In the morning our international team started at the city hall in Terni. The sport representative of the city and kids were waiting for us and, after a hearty meeting we left Terni.

After some good hill-work we reached Spoleto, where runners guided us into the old part of the town. After an adventurous route through the city (especially for the cars following us...), we were received in the city hall by the Mayor and children.

We visited the Madre Maddalena Maestre Pie Filipini primary school, where the kids had painted banners and made drawings. After a final run with all the kids, we went on...

Passing through the most beautiful region of Umbria, we reached Folignio and local runners escorted us to the Dir. Primo Circolo Didattico primary school.

We presented the Run to the kids and all of them passed the torch around. At the end of the ceremony, the Mayor joined in and with the great support of the local police we then headed for another famous location: Assisi.

In Assisi the "assessore" of sport greeted us at the church of Santa Clara. We then had a meeting with Prof. Costa from "Centro Pace"; this organisation awards the "Pilgrim of Peace Award".

As Sri Chinmoy, the founder of the World Harmony Run received this award in 1998, it was a great honour for us to visit the Centro Pace headquarters in Assisi.

Prof. Costa also offered us a special surprise-gift: an olive tree! We gladly took with us, to give it a new home!

A special torch blessing at the grave underneath the church of Francesco da Assisi ended our visit to Assisi.

On our last stage, we approached Perugia. Local runners joined us on the way and together we went to the Ipsia Cavour Marconi school.

Kids from the school carried the torch all the way up on the hill. At the school, the assessore and the director of Cesvol of Perugia welcomed us and so, another successful World Harmony Run day ended!
