Italy 24 April: Alessandria - Genova

we gave the kids a high five...

Our last day in Italy started already with a busy schedule: during our breakfast in the church of S. Michele we went live on local radio, broadcasting right from the church.

the mayor took the torch...

The first stop of the day was in Bosco. Together with lots of kids the mayor and more city representatives welcomed us.

Its always a pleasure to see all the cheerful smiling Italian kids. They are a great inspiration to us with all their fresh enthusiasm!

The traditional introduction of the Run with passing the torch around ended with a great refreshment, which was actually a full lunch!

Finally all of us took a few steps for harmony!

The next hours we had to speed up, as the final event in Genova was scheduled quite early. We crossed the province of Liguria and we enjoyed a comfortable constant downhill run towards the Mediterranean Sea.

10 km before Genova a group of runners joined and together we reached the old traditional city of Genova.

Many old buildings have lots of stories to tell; Genova's greatness in trading and sea fare reflect everywhere!

the mascot of the local soccer team...

Almost at the finish a group of kids awaited us. Even the famous mascot of the local soccer team run with us!

A final ceremony took place at the harbor of Genova. The assessore of sports offered us a special gift and together with all the kids we sang the World Harmony Run song in Italian.

But the official program did not end here: we went on to The European Dive Center in Portofino -Santa Margherita Ligure.

Our friends Antonio, Miles and Paolo Arnaldo took us on a special trip: a diving tour to the famous under water Christ of the Abbys - statue of San Fruttuoso.

Two of our brave runners went down and took a few great shots with the torch and the WHR flag!

After a good night meal with our friends we got accommodation at the Best Western Metropoli and the Best Western City Hotel in Genova. Thanks for the support!
