We continued the Run in the morning starting in Paestum, the fanous Greek - Roman Temple area south of Salerno. Soon we reached Agropoli and went straight to school!

La mattina abbiamo ripreso la Corsa partendo da Paestum, il famoso complesso greco romano di templi a sud di Salerno. Abbiamo presto raggiunto Agropoli e siamo andati dritti a scuola!

The "II Circolo Didattico" school was the first meeting. The kids lined up on the way in and we gave them a "High Five".

Il primo appuntamento fissato era al II Circolo Didattico, i bambini si sono messi in fila nel cortile della scuola e li abbiamo salutati "dandogli il cinque:"

...to see smiling faces makes such a difference for the rest of the day....
...vedere volti sorridenti ti cambia la giornata...

The children performed for us a nice song: sincerely we told them that they sang better then we did....

I bambini ci hanno cantato una canzone così carina: gli abbiamo detto in tutta sincerità che avevano cantato meglio di noi...

...and finally we run all together around the school!....

...e finalmente abbiamo corso tutti insieme intorno alla scuola!....

...when I am grown up I want to be a basketball player, too....
...da grande voglio diventare anch'io una giocatrice di basket...

Our next meeting brought us to the "I Circolo" school.

Il nostro prossimo incontro ci ha condotti al I Circolo.

The kids prepared many drawings and decorated with them the whole school and even the square in front of the school...

I bambini hanno preparato molti disegni e li hanno attaccati sia dentro che fuori il loro istituto...

...we showed the WHR Video and passed the troch....
...abbiamo mostrato loro il video della WHR e fatto passare la fiaccola...

...and some great Italian sweets in the end...
...e per finire alcuni ottimi pasticcini italiani...

After this intense start we begun our running. This day was quite a long stretch: we had to cover 155km, mostly hilly!

We did not run the straight road to Sapri, but we followed the coastline and run through some of the most beautiful, remote places in Italy!

Dopo quest'intenso inizio abbiamo continuato la nostra giornata corsa, ci aspettava un tratto piuttosto lungo: 155 km, per lo più in collina!

Non abbiamo seguito la strada più diretta verso Sapri, ma abbiamo seguito la linea della costa e corso attraverso alcuni dei più belli e remoti posti d'Italia!

...the villages are all buit in hills - as protection against pirates in former centuries...

...i paesi sono costruiti in cima alle colline, una protezione contro gli attacchi dei pirati saraceni nei secoli precedenti...

a welcome lunch on the coast with the best tomatoes in the world, Parmigiano Reggiano, olives, artichokes and oil!...

un pranzo di benvenuto sulla costa con i migliori pomodori del mondo, Parmigiano Reggiano, olive, carciofi ed olio!

After a tough uphill we reached the final destination for the day: Lauria. Children where waiting at the entrance of the city and joined in the Run!

Dopo una dura salita abbiamo raggiunto la destinazione finale della tappa: Lauria. Dei bambini stavano aspettando all'ingresso della città e si sono uniti alla Corsa!

...The local running clup carried the torch all the way through Lauria....

...il club di corsa locale ha portato la fiaccola per il rimanente tratto attraverso Lauria...

...arriving on the main square of Lauria's "Rione inferiore": the town is the union of two disinct areas, the "Rione Inferiore" and the "Rione Superiore", they even speak slightly different dialects!
...l'arrivo alla piazza centrale, del rione inferiore: Lauria é costituita in due parti, inferiore e superiore, con anche un dialetto leggermente diverso!

..."Lauria greets the athletes of the WHR"! A big Thank You for this enthusiastic welcome!

..."Lauria" saluta gli atleti della WHR"! Un grande grazie per l'entusiastico benvenuto!

Together with all the kids we ran to the "Rione Superiore", we stopped at the statue of the local saint: Beato Domenico Lentini.

Insieme ai bambini abbiamo corso fino al "Rione Superiore"; ci siamo fermati alla statua del Santo di Lauria, Beato Domenico Lentini.

We were invited to carry the torch in the local church, where the mass was about to end. The priest introduced the WHR and blessed the torch...

Ci hanno invitato a portare la fiaccola nella chiesa principale, dove la messa stava per concludersi. Il Parroco ha intodotto la WHR ai fedeli ed ha benedetto la fiaccola...

Later on he invited everybody to pass the torch and to offer a prayer or a wish for Peace!

Subito dopo ha invitato tutti a passarsi la fiaccola ed a offrire una preghiera o un augurio di Pace!

...the torch was carried to the grave of Beato Domenico Lentini...

...la fiaccola é stta portata alla tomba del Beato Domenicco Lentini...

The evening ended with a delicious meal in a Pizzeria together with the members of the Running Club Lauria. Thank you for your hospitality!

La serata si é conclusa con un deliziosa cena in pizzeria in compagnia dei membri del Running Club Lauria. Grazie per la vostra ospitalità!
