Our morning meeting took us to the beach right across the street from the school we were visiting.

Alghero's coastline offers a beautiful view of neighbouring cities.

Nella prima scuola, la Lido del 1° circolo, i bambini ci aspettavano pieni di entusiasmo.

The first school, Lido, was brimming with enthusiasm.

Tanti magnifici bambini si sono passati la fiaccola...

dopo questa corsa sulla spiaggia le nostre scarpe sono rimaste piene di sabbia per ore, ma ne è valsa la pena!

We were dumping sand out of our shoes for hours afterwards, but the run was worth it!

Non temere, è solo sabbia!

Ad Alghero abbiamo trovato molti nuovi anìmici! Daniela e Achille (nella foto qui sopra) hanno corso con noi attraverso la città e in tutte le scuole. Daniela è una delle insegnanti del I Circolo e, insieme ad Achille, anche uno dei membri dell'Alghero Marathon Club. Entrambi ci hanno aiutato moltissimo! Achille, Mario e sua moglie, anche loro del club, ci hanno addirittura offerto i loro appartamenti per la notte, pur avendoci appena conosciuti... grazie a tutti voi e all'Alghero Marathon Club dal profondo del cuore!

In Alghero we found many new friends! Daniela and Achille (in the photo above) ran through the city with us, and to each of our schools. Daniela is one of the "I Circolo" School teachers, and along with Achille also one of the runners from the local "Alghero Marathon Club". Both of them helped us so much and in so many ways! Achille, Mario and his wife, all members of the running club, set us up with accommodation, offering us their own flats although they hardly knew us! Our heart's deepest gratitude to you all and to the Alghero Marathon Club!

La seconda scuola, la Scodelo. Le prime tre scuole che abbiamo visitato oggi sono tutti plessi del I Circolo di Alghero.

The second school in Alghero, Scodelo (and the third, Sacro Cuore), is run by the same director as Lido.

Anche i più piccini si sono uniti a noi!...

...tutti insieme abbiamo condiviso un momento di pace.

...and we all shared a moment of peace.

Durante molti anni di visite nelle scuole in Italia, abbiamo ormai imparato che è quasi impossibile contenere l'entusiasmo dei bambini Italiani quando si comincia a correre!

Over the years we've figured out it's nearly impossible to control the Italian kids' enthusiasm when they're running.

L'accoglienza che abbiamo ricevuto al Sacro Cuore... una vera festa!

A party awaited us upon arrival at Sacro Cuore school.

Si possono portare animali a scuola... ma solo cuccioli!
The school allowed animals, but only very cute ones.

Le espressioni dei bambini ci ricordano sempre quanto siamo fortunati di girare per il mondo e diffondere un messaggio di armonia.

Children's reactions always remind us of how lucky we are to travel the world and spread the message of harmony.

E' stato fantastico avere i podisti locali assieme a noi, sono stati di grande aiuto e amati dai bambini.

Having the local runners with us was fantastic, they were a great help and the kids loved them.

Nel clima mediterraneo della Sardegna cresce una grande varietà di piante, alle volte sembra di trovarsi ai tropici.

The mediterannean climate of Sardinia allows a lot of variety in plant-life, it's almost tropical.

Piccolo ma forte!
This little guy was tough!

Più che una corsetta, è stato uno sprint a tutto gas!

Instead of a slow run, we went for a full-on sprint.

Last of all we posed for a big group picture in front of the school entrance.

Una scorciatoia attraverso i vicoli della città...

We took a little shortcut through the back alleys...

...per raggiungere il municipio, dove siamo stati accolti dall'Assessore dello Sport, Salvatore Angioi, che ci ha dato il benvenuto a nome del Sindaco... nella foto il momento il cui gli abbiamo dato l'attestato della World Harmony Run.

...and arrived at City Hall, where we presented the Sport Representative Salvatore Angioi with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Due podiste italiane a tutto gas.

Da Alghero ci siamo incamminati verso sud passando dalla costa incantevole.

From Alghero we headed south along the wonderful coastline.

Quando corri nel caldo pensi a nuotare nel vasto mare vicino.

When you are running in the heat all you can think about is taking a little swim in the vast ocean right next to you.

Avvicinandoci a Bosa...

Bosa was quickly appearing...

...poi siamo arrivati in centro città.

...and at last we arrived in the centre of the city.
