Poland 18 July: Kuznia Raciborska - Ostrzeszow

This morning we started in Kuznia Raciborska. The boys who ran with us yesterday evening all showed up again, and accompanied us out of the city.

Fortunately it wasn't too hot today, but the humidity promised some rain showers; sure enough, we got some all day...

In Kedzierzyn Kozle four kids were waiting for us and ran a long stretch in the city. The police did a great job guiding our runners all the way to the city hall. The mayor welcomed us and offered us nice gifts and refreshments.

As we left the city hall, a school class was waiting for us as a nice surprise. The enthusiastic kids couldn't get enough of running, so we had to run back and forth several times with them!

This extra meeting put our schedule under real pressure, as we still had to cover 80 kilometres to get to the next meeting in three hours! Only by extreme "leap-frogging" - more runners running simultaneously - were we able to arrive on time.

National TV was waiting in Olesno and the local police brought us to a meeting with the sport representative of the city.

A few rainshowers later we arrived in Kluczbork. Almost the whole team got soaked just the moment we arrived at the city centre!

The mayor welcomed us and invited us for a deeply-appreciated lunch!

The endless Polish country roads provided us with more kilometress, but finally we arrived in Ostrzeszow. At the city entrance a group of kids waited for us and took the torch.

In the main square hundreds of kids enthusiastically cheered us; the mayor welcomed us and a short run around the city hall ended a very intense running day! The mayor picked up such a hard pace that he almost suffered a heart attack!

All the kids accompanied us to our accommodation place and we had dinner together. In the evening we explored the city's castle.
