USA 25 July: Chicago, IL - Galien, MI

Our morning began with a visit to the Chicago Area Project's kick off for their annual CAP Games - a track and field event for inner city Chicago youth. This year's theme was "Strive and Thrive!"

The Choir performed very beautifully.

The children were very enthusiastic flag wavers.

We were extremely honored to be able to present the Torch-Bearer award to James "Major" Adams, who is one of the founding fathers of the Chicago Area Project and has dedicated his life to serving the youth of Chicago. As with any award, its worth is dependent on the caliber of its recipients, and by giving the award to Major Adams its value has increased dramatically.

Another recipeint was Hallie Amey - a woman who worked tirelessy in her community to ensure people have what they needed. If they didn't, she worked hard to get it for them. Thank you for your years of service.

Major Adams shares his message of hope and inspiration with the children.

The team with Edward's (far right) band.

We then did a lap of honor to kick off the CAP Games which will be taking place next week.

Later that day we had the good fortune to visit a Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Indiana to share the torch.

Welcome to Putrima from Russia who will be with us from Chicago to Pittsburgh.

Special thanks to Mary, Prakhara and Sukantika for making our visit in Chicago so enjoyable.
