Austria 11 September: Graz - Judenburg

We left Graz and enjoyed a sunny morning! A new country, and only 2,000 km. to go!

Our first event brought us to the famous church of Bärnbach, designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

Manjula at the gate for Hinduism...

In the church grounds there are various gates, dedicated to the major world religions. The artwork symbolises the synthesis of truth within all religions.

The priest received the torch and a candle was lit...

We went on, into the West-Steiermark, one of the most beautiful regions of Austria!

Mrs. Reinprecht received the torch...

We took the opportunity to visit good old friends of the World Harmony Run, the "Gestüt Piber" - the home of the  famous Lipizzaner horses.

These horses perform at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna and are considered to be the best-trained horses in the world!

We were heartily welcomed and after enjoying refreshments, we  received a guided tour of the stables!

It was a tough climb of over 1000m up to the "Gaberl". A few brave runners from our team ran the whole 23k - uphill  part in one stretch!

We reached Weisskirchen in the late afternoon. The mayor received us and, together with local runners we went on to Zeltweg.

Jenny carried the torch a long way!

In Zeltweg the mayor welcomed us at the City Hall and he took a few steps for Harmony!

Finally, we reached Judenburg and enjoyed a great meal with our local friends!
