Austria 16 September: Vienna

Today we spent the whole day in Vienna for local events. After the long

distances in the rain quite a welcome change of program...

We visited the City Hall of Vienna:

The Deputy Mayor of Vienna, Mrs. Grete Laska welcomed us and gladly took the torch!

After the City Hall we met some athletes from the Austrian Military. Together we run from the "Stiftskaserne" through the centre of Vienna..

passing the parliament...

We reached the "Rossauer Kaserne", the headquarter of the Austrian Military. A perfect military - welcome with great music!

General Entacher, the highest officer in the Austrian Military, received the "Torch Bearer Award" on behalf of the Austrian Military...

our athletes from the Austrian Military...

the french connection...

General Entacher with Sepp Resnik, an old friend of the World Harmony Run.

In the afternoon we visited the SOS Kinderdorf Hinterbrühl.

Its hard to stop enthusiastic kids (and we would never try!)...

A wish for happiness and harmony...

After a short run the kids released balloons and the hearty meeting ended...

In the afternoon the team split and some of us drove back to St. Pölten, where we got the opportunity to meet with the governor of Lower Austria, Dr. Erwin Pröll.

The governor kindly took the torch and offered us his best wishes for the World Harmony Run!

the harmony stamps keep showing up...

The last meeting took place in Stft Heiligenkreuz, an old monastery in the hills around Vienna.

The monks, who are riding high in the music charts, blessed the torch.

One highlight was definitely their singing of traditional chants!

Thanks to everybody for this really colorful, dynamic day!
