Austria 21 October: Klöch - border Austria/Slovenia

...our Austrian party carried the flaming Peace Torch from Klöch to the Peace Bridge which connects Austria and Slovenia...

...shortly before the bridge we handed over the torch to the children and the mayor of Klöch...

...the Slovenian runners arrived, too...

...this is the creek which flows under the bridge: a small river, but of great significance...

..the two parties meet in the middle of the bridge, which marks the border between Austria and Slovenia...

...an exchange of torches and peace wishes...

...more than 200 people from Cankova and Klöch came on thisbeautiful sunny day to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the "Sri Chinmoy Peace Bridge"...

...children from both schools performed for the audience...

..little gifts from the children: peace birds...

...one of the highlights: the kids let peace doves fly off into the sky!

...the two mayors signed the traditional greeting messages...

...and all people passed the flaming torches from hand to hand...

...the mayors planted two peace trees: one on the Slovenian side and on the Austrian side of th creek...

..the priest blessed the peace tree....

...and the ceremony ended with refreshments...

A big "Thank You" to the people from Klöch and Cankova for this extraordinary example of friendship, harmony and peace! See you again next year!!!
