Germany 17 June: Berlin

The second day in Berlin - with lots of meetings to come...

First we went to Bornholm Primary School; the director Mr. Fuchs and all the kids gave us an enthusiastic welcome!

Peace in our hearts....
Friede in unseren Herzen....

Once around the world!

Einmal um die ganze Welt!

...the kids performed the WHR Song for us!

Thank you very much for the great meeting!

Vielen Dank für den super Empfang!

...I want to run, too!....
...ich möchte auch mitlaufen!....

...we arrived at "an der Marie" Primary School; children where already waiting for us, to carry the torch into the school....

....what a welcome!

....was für ein Empfang!

...thanks for the live music performance!

Vielen Dank für die Live - Darbietung!

...our team members tried to feel peace in their hearts too....

..the stamps are back!....

...unsere Stempel sind wieder im Einsatz!...

School director Mr. Zipperling leads the crowd!

Schulleiter Hr. Zipperling führt die Menge!

Good bye!

Auf Wiedersehen!

Next was the "Fast Sock" Sports festival at the Buschkrug Allee Stadiu; organisers Roland Winkler and Marco Guhl did a great job with this event!

Das Sportfest "Schnelle Socke" im Stadion Buschkrugallee, war unser nächster Programmpunkt.

Die Organisatoren Roland Winkler und Marco Guhl haben ihre Sache gut gemacht!

...only smiling faces!

...lauter lachende Gesichter!

Thanks to the organisers for the nice event!

..the Berlin Wall - a sad reminder of what humans are capable of...

Next we headed towards Checkpoint Charlie, one of the legendary border crossings between the former East Berlin and West Berlin. It was the geographical focal point of the Cold War, where two worlds split apart and joined again...

During the period 1961 - 1989 more than 5,000 people escaped across the Wall to West Berlin. The Wall-Museum, located at Checkpoint Charlie, documents this, as well as the history of the separation of East and West Germany, in a very impressive way.

Mrs. Hildebrandt, the director of the museum, received us kindly and welcomed the Peace Torch in the museum....

...one of the ways how people were smuggled across the order....

...a very informative tour by Mrs. Hildebrandt....

...a historic picture in front of a historic sign. Thank you for the great meeting; the museum is definitely a must during any Berlin visit!

Berlin Alexanderplatz...

..and parts of the Berlin Wall...

..und Teile der Berliner Mauer...

Today we also had a very special meeting with Wolfgang Kraker von Schwarzenfeld. He is the founder of the "Global Stone Project", in the Berlin Tiergarten.

Special stones from all over the world are on display: each stone has according to Wolfgang Kraker von Schwarzenfeld a different personality, embodying hope, forgiveness, awakening, peace and love.

The last meeting of the day took place at the Kurukshetra - our good friends from the Hare Krishna Temple!

Unser letztes Meeting des Tages fand im Kurukshetra statt - unsere guten Freunde vom Hare Krishna Tempel!

They invited us into their temple in Berlin for a delicious meal, just as they did last time we were here.

Thank you for the great food! A perfect end to a great day!

Vielen Dank für das großartige Abendessen! Ein perfekter Abschluss für einen perfekten Tag!
