Germany 14 June: Bad Kreuznach - Luxembourg

In the morning, we thanked the Hotel Kauzenburg by offering our Certificate and singing the song. Thanks for accommodating our team!

Two runners including the hotel cook Jürgen, a former vice champion in cross running, had started off earlier to reach the first school in Norheim....

At St. Martin Primary School in Norheim, we were greeted by the school headteachers Frau Messer and Frau Kernchen and lots of smiling kids!

After about 35 scenic kilometers along the Nahe river we reached Kirn...

First we went to the Hellberg Primary School, where the kids offered us a song of their own in return: "We Are Building a Rainbow"....

The Primary School "Dominikschule" in Kirn was next....

...the headteacher, Mrs. Franzmann and the kids had learned our song and so we performed together, supported on keyboard...

....all of us found new friends...
...wir alle fanden neue Freunde....

In Idar-Oberstein was our last school meeting for the day, the "Flurschule".

The headteacher, Mrs. Bauer, and the kids welcomed us warmly!

The city representative Mr. Marx, ran enthusiastically with the kids around the schoolyard after presenting the kids with sweets and the runners with gem key hangers as a souvenir from the famous gem town of Idar-Oberstein.

Thanks for your enthusiasm!

Vielen Dank für euren Enthusiasmus!

The next 70 km were intense teamwork through a beautifully scenic but quite hilly countryside. We even made it early to the fascinating city of Trier, the oldest city in Germany, and paused to pose with the torch in front of the world famous Porta Nigra from Roman times, one of the many city sites that are part of the UNESCO world heritage.

Shortly before our official reception in Trier, three members of the city council met us by chance, enquired about the Run, held the torch and even ran a few steps with it.

Shortly afterwards, Mr. Thomas Egger, Head of the City Department of Economy, Culture and Tourism, officially received the World Harmony Run on behalf of the city of Trier. (We had arrived earlier than expected in Trier, and since there were quite a few km left to run, part of the team had already left for Luxemburg.)

In the evening we reached the border of Germany and Luxembourg. But our long day of running continued. We said good bye to our German runners. We still had to run a long way to the city of Luxembourg...

Again a big Thank You to all our German helpers for the fantastic time we spent over the last days and see you soon again!

– Vasanti
