Iceland 9 July: Egilsstaðir-Möðrudalur

The World Harmony Run started today at the town of Egilsstaðir and went through Jökuldalur up to the Möðrudalsöræfi barren lands.

Neelabha and Bhauliya both left for Reykjavík today before going home to Czech Republic and Scotland early next morning. Their final day will probably be memorable to them, as they were assigned running all the way up from Jökuldalur valley up to the barren highland. Undaunted by these steep ridges, Neelabha and Bhauliya both ran together enjoying each other's company as they completed a difficult task. Unusual, as usually we try to conserve our energies, but, as the saying goes: They ran like there was no tomorrow.

The two of them weren't the only ones to leave; Steinunn and Ágúst had also used up all the time they could spend on the Run and had to go back that same evening. Despite this great loss, the total number of runners stayed the same, as Viktoría, Davíð, Andrés and Upajukta joined us, either last night or this morning.

Nevertheless, we had the feeling that the gods of the weather had taken pity on us as they showered us not with rain this time, but with sunlight and all the warmth that Iceland can muster.

Today, which was beautiful, if somewhat bittersweet due to departure of dear friends, ended at the fabulous Guesthouse Möðrudalur, where all the runners dreamt sweet dreams of the beautiful landscape that lies ahead.
