Iceland 11 July: Chahida's farewell

Dear World Harmony Runners and other friends.

It has been a blessing and a joy to be able to come to Iceland, especially to run around the country. It will be hard to go back to Austria, which almost seems stressful and demanding in comparison.

Iceland is so calm and quiet, and yet there is always some movement here. Underneath the still and quiet facade of the Icelandic nature lies boundless energy which manifests in the vibrant birds and horses and even in the strong winds!

The same goes for the people. Beneath the quiet Icelander lies a person who wants to act constantly. Icelanders are always ready to try something new and to create something new. And their children, who have run along with us, always put all of their effort in the run.

But above all, Icelanders are kind and friendly. It is fitting that the World Harmony Run, translated into Icelandic, reads "Friendship Run", for Icelanders know what friendship means.

These fleeting 10 days of mine in the World Harmony Run have been like a dream and I feel like I have already been here for a month. At the same time, it is hard to say goodbye now. I just hope I can be back next year.
