New Zealand 15 October: Twizel - Wanaka

Another beautiful day in paradise.

The snow capped mountains stand silent against the sky.

We are running into ‘The Lord of the Rings’ territory and our international runners were excited to recognise scenery from the films. Even more spectacular in real life.

We start the day with a ceremony at Twizel Area School.

The kids were really enthusiastic and enjoyed the presentation. They did a great job of guessing the countries the team members come from and the languages we quizzed them on.

Fueling the journey.

Next we visited Omarama School, which was very small and sweet, and funnily enough, shares its name with the youngest member of our team: Marama! Marama is the Maori word for "Moon."

It is such a joy for the team to be sharing the message of harmony with these children.

On the edges of MacKenzie Country - desert land.

Pristine but not green,

Here we are.

From this -

To this...

Last but not least, we visited Tarras School.

We had some fun with skits demonstrating harmony.

They welcomed us to their beautiful school under the shade of a tree.

These children are so blessed to live in such peaceful surroundings and it echoes in their nature.

We rounded up the day with a swim in Lake Wanaka, followed by pizza and ice cream.

We are very grateful to Best Western Belvedere luxury apartments for providing us with a beautiful apartment.

Thank you also to Aspiring Lodge Motel, Brookvale Motel and Hiker's Rest Lodge for kindly providing accommodation to the team.

And we prepare for tomorrow....

– Susan
