New Zealand 21 October: Balclutha - Dunedin

We started our day with a beautiful rainbow over Balclutha.

This is our last day of running in the South Island.

We took a nice route over the hills to the coast.

The strong and cold Antarctic winds accompanied us the whole day, joined by frequent showers.

We were glad to get away from the main road with its big trucks and head out towards the ocean.

We found some special flora on the coast, that some of us had never seen before...

The sun made an appearance from time to time...

We entered Dunedin and headed to St Clair. The ocean was really raging.

The new mayor of Dunedin Dave Tull came out to meet us in the town centre.

We visited Sandfly Bay, where a storm was in full fury.

The wind was so strong that the sand dunes became a sand river...

Many thanks to the helpful folk at Esplanade Motel for providing us with a fantastic apartment.
