USA 8 August: Esperance, NY - Woodford, VT

Things started a little wet this morning. Fortunately for these two - being from London and Seattlle, respectively - , they were right at home.

The first visit of the day was to the Albany YMCA at Public School 18. We were greeted by cheers and applause from over 50 children and counsellors.

As usual, the smiles were abound!

No one missed the chance to hold the torch and offer their joy to the world.

Thank you so much to City Controller Tom Nitido for coming out to show the great city of Albany's support.

From Albany, NY we made our way to Bennington, VT to meet our great friend and state coordinator, Akankha Perkins.

We carried the torch into the Bennington Recreation Center to be enthusiastically greeted by about 45 summer program children.(Who wants to go to Hawaii?!)

They made a beautiful welcoming banner!

And some awesome peace signs out of paper plates and various other media.

They had some excellent questions and were able to guess every country we were from with ease. A really bright group!

In the evening we were blessed to stay in wonderful farm home just outside of Brattleboro.

Our good friends Arun and Julie and their two sons, Ben and Mathew, hosted us for an excellent fireside dinner and a restful night's sleep.

The farm was stunningly beautiful and deeply peaceful.

We made some interesting new friends.

They learned about the run with rapt attention.
