USA 28 July: Galien, MI - Galesburg, MI

Thank you Anne from the girls team for a delightful English breakfast!

At Niles, Mayor Michael McCauslin organized a welcoming ceremony at City Hall.

There we were met by children from the local YMCA summer camp, the Home-school Hub and...

...four girls from the local high school cross-country team. The local media and a member from the local council were also present. The four girls ran out of the city with the police escort.

Luigi Costello, from US Virgin Islands who was visiting his in-laws in the area also ran with us for a few more miles.

Along the route I met Tony and Carla who seemed to be waiting for the runners and both of them and their children we so eager to hold the torch and made their wishes for harmony. (They took some photos and said they would send them to us by email)

At Three Rivers City Hall we met Mayor Allen Balog who fondly remembered us from 2008.

This nice lady stopped when she saw our car at the side of the road because she remembered the story of the good Samaritan and she wanted to see if we needed help. When we told her that we were in fact waiting for our runner she was really delighted to hear about our run and immediately offered us a donation. In return we offered her a t-shirt. Thank-you for your kindness and enthusiasm.

Thank-you to Jill Angell for having us to visit the Kalamazoo Boys and Girls Club where the kids were full of energy and eagerness.

They immediately joined Atulya in a run around the playing-field and there were lots of willing volunteers to help hold our banner.

They had prepared many nice drawings for us on the theme of harmony.

Everyone had a chance to hold the torch and make a wish for world harmony.

That evening we were treated to a wonderful at Community Inclusive Recreation

We offer our gratitude to the McCamly Plaza Hotel for giving the team one room tonight!
