Ian is a current serving member of the South Australian Police as the Blue Light State Co-ordinator and has been chairperson of the Gawler Blue Light since 2004. Ian has also been the police co-ordinator for Willaston Neighbourhood Watch since 1998.

Ian has also been instrumental in promoting local youth bands throughout Adelaide. Since taking over the chair of the Gawler Blue Light Ian has increased the average patronage from around 80 to nearly 500 in 2007. But what has made Ian such a worthy candidate for recognition is the amount of personal time and effort that he has invested in helping people especially young people in need. All this is done in Ian’s unique way, without making a big deal or expecting any recognition.
