England 17 March: Oxford - Uxbridge

Oxford, one of the most renowned university cities in the world!

Our first meeting brought us to City Hall, where we met the Lord Mayor of Oxford.

...the official meeting was followed by some nice refreshments...

...and a group picture...

...after City Hall, our team went on a scenic sightseeing run through the old city...

..Oxford is getting ready for spring...

Our city run brought us to the historic running track on which Roger Bannister broke the 4-minute mile barrier in 1954. His new world record: 3:59.4.

...a short race on the track was organised. The torch won!...

School-time in Oxford and we started with the St. John's & St. Mary's Primary Schools.

...no other schools were able to guess our nationalities so quickly!

...we all went into the schoolyard and passed the torch...

...and a final run...

...once more we ran through the city...

....and we went to the Christ Church Cathedral School. We had to leave all our weapons at the entrance - just kidding! - there was a rehearsal of "Treasure Island" going on...

...we went into a laboratory and met one of the classes...

...the boys asked lots of good questions...

...a relay run ended the meeting...

...as we could't meet Roger Bannister, we met his grandson...
