New Zealand 19 September: Christchurch – Christchurch

Team D

Our first visit was to Halswell Primary School. After an introduction by team member Luke Armstrong, we headed outside so that the children could run with and hold the torch.

Their bright little faces looked on in wonder at the symbolic flame of peace.

They particularly enjoyed it when Luke invited the teachers to run for world harmony in circles around us.

The second visit was to the Rudolf Steiner School. The children and staff here were so open and receptive to the World Harmony Run. Luke introduced us and explained Sri Chinmoy’s vision for the World Harmony Run. We sang with the children who had already learnt our song and one class also impressed us by playing it on little wooden flutes.

Our special thanks to one of the teachers, Brenda Warrander, for her oneness in sharing our mutual dreams of harmony for all.

The third school was Cathedral College where we joined the weekly assembly. Special thanks to Eilis Hareora for her dedication to fostering peace amongst the children she teaches.

Eilis holds the torch with team member Kate Carvalho and Cathedral College students. The top of the Catholic Cathedral looms above.
