A group of early morning runners assemble in front of our hotel in Sioux City. Paul Eckhart and his daughter Lauren return to run some more miles with us.

We love to run with an enthusiastic and energetic group.

Employees at the Blue Bunny ice cream parlour. This is a great place for a treat, and the girls team had the great fortune to make a stop here. Le Mars' claim to fame is that they are the ice cream capital of the world.

We met these people in 2006 along the route in front of their farm just north of Le Mars. This year they saw us on the local television news from Sioux City the previous night and were looking for us, but as it turns out we found them. They didn't see the runners pass earlier in the morning, but we dropped in on them to ask for some directions. You can imagine their surprise, and I was very delighted to see them again as I did in 2006. These folks are energetic and have been running their farm since 1969. They are also very self-giving and we happily accepted their generous donation. Thank you so much, and keep up the good work.

Matt Russell and his boys, Nathan and Adam. They were excited to hold the torch and see the runner on the street. They gave us excellent advice on a detour which turned out to be a very nice road to run on. Matt is a farmer of wheat, corn, soybeans, and also raises hogs.

After our run we jumped into Lake Okabena outside of Worthington, MN. We met some kids here and had an awesome time swimming with them.

Laurie Keitel is a strong spirit who believes and practices community building by helping neighbor to neighbor. She told us that the Worthington community is diverse and people really need to work together here.

Happy Birthday David. Boston Creme Pie with candles that he was unable to blow out. He was still winded from his 29K's.

Thanks to the Shalom Hill Farm for superb accommodations. The rooms were excellent as well as the laundry and the recreation room, we appreciate it very much.

The setting was very nice in the middle of the country surrounded by corn fields and farms. The next morning we watched a powerful thunderstorm roll in and the view from our room was quite magnificent with the lightning flashing across the sky.
