Iceland 12 July: Flatey

Some of our more adventurous team members visited the western most part of Iceland to see the famous Puffin nesting place.

Hér gefur að líta enn fleiri myndir frá ævintýragjörnum liðsfélögum okkar sem flykktust á Látrabjarg síðastliðna nótt.

They were welcomed by the head Puffin who, as you can see, had a lot to say.

Þar tók á móti þeim yfirlundinn sem lá, augsjáanlega, mikið á hjarta.

These remarkable creatures are quite comfortable with human company and let us get quite close to them.

Þessar sérstöku skepnur eru afar gæfar og leyfa mönnum að koma mjög nálægt sér.

In the morning we drove to the ferry terminal as this was our last day in Vestfirðir (West Fjords) region.

Um morguninn var keyrt að ferjunni yfir Breiðafjörðinn.

It was nice to have a respite from all the running and as we got our sea legs we made the most of the spectacular views.

Það var skemmtileg tilbreyting að hvíla hlaupin í einn dag.  Í staðinn fengum við að kynnast því hvernig við værum til sjós og fengum fallegan útsýnistúr í leiðinni.

We stopped off on the Island of Flatey for a barbeque and had a presentation to the summer residents on this quaint island which is about 4 km around.

The local church was under construction outside but inside was some very interesting artwork.

Verið var að gera við kirkjuna að utan, en að innan gefur að líta all sérstakt listaverk.

Our Icelandic coordinators made sure we had yet another delicious lunch - this time a barbeque.

Hinir íslensku skipuleggjendur hlaupsins sáu til þess að við fengjum staðgóðan hádegisverð, einu sinni sem oftar.  Að þessu sinni var grillað.

Dipavajan gets some opinions from some of the locals.

Dipavajan tók viðtöl við ábúendur.

Our ever present friends - the Arctic Terns - still swooping.

Góðkunningjar Friðarhlaupsins - kríurnar - ávallt tilbúnar að stinga sér.

One of the many summer houses on the Island. Apparently in winter only two people stay on the island.

Eitt af mörgum sumarhúsum eyjunnar.  Okkur skilst að einungis tveir búi þar allt árið.

This is the gracious captain of Sæferðir ferry line which very generously provided complimentary passage for all the World Harmony Run team.

Unnar Valby Gunnarsson, skipstjóri Baldurs, stillti sér upp með Friðarkyndilinn í hönd.  Friðarhlaupið er Sæferðum afar þakklátt fyrir að hafa boðið öllum liðsmönnum okkar ókeypis siglingu yfir fjörðinn.

As you can see it was long day and we were all pretty tired by the time we got off the ferry.

Glöggt má sjá að þetta var langur dagur og við vorum öll orðin þreytt er við stigum í land.
