Iceland 19 July: Patreksfjörður - Grundarfjörður

We left the Westfjords going south.

Við yfirgáfum Vestfirði á leið suður.

sunset at the West Cap...close to 1am.

sólsetur hjá Patreksfirði kl: 01:00

One of the few sightings of the moon.

It's Puffin time!!! Midnight at the western most point of Iceland. These birds let us come within reaching distance and were as curious about us as we were about them.

Tími til að skoða lunda!!! Það er miðnætti þar sem við erum á Vestlægasta stað á Íslandi sem heitir látrabjarg. Lundinn leyfði okkur að koma næstum alla leið upp að þeim, því þeir voru jafn forvitnir og við.

These birds are so beautiful..

Þetta eru svo fallegir fuglar.

The morning run into Patreksfjörður village.

Hlaupið inn á Patreksfjörð um morguninn.

These kids are very good runners.

... krakkarnir eru frábærir hlauparar.

Atul from India explains the run to all the locals.

Atul frá Indlandi talar um hlaupið.

Singing the WHR theme song.

Friðarlagið sungið við góðar undirtektir.

Finding peace within.

Fundið friðinn.

The owner of the Pirate restaurant(Sjóræningjahúsið) Davið Rúnar came to meet us again.

Eigandi Sjóræningjahússins á Patreksfirði Davíð Rúnar mætti á svæðið.

Erla Reimarsdóttir receives the Torch-Bearer Award for her outstanding contributions to helping children in the Vesturbyggð community, and her great support of the World Harmony Run over many years.

Erla Reimarsdóttir fær friðarverðlaunin ''Kyndilberi friðar'' fyrir frábæra vinnu með börnum í Vesturbyggð og hefur verið mikill stuðningsmaður friðarhlaupsins í mörg ár.

Running around the world symbolically.

hlaupið umhverfis heiminn á táknrænan hátt.

With peace and oneness from Patreksfjörður.

Með frið og einingu frá Patreksfirði.

The ferry Baldur at Brjánslækur.. The ferry ride was fantastic, scenic and smooth. Some runners went below deck and took the opportunity to sleep on the journey. The ferry company did their self-giving part for world harmony by transporting all the runners and the four vehicle for free.

...nice view wherever you look.

... flott útsýni hvert sem litið er.

Reaching our next destination.

Við nálgumst næsta áfangastað.

Many of the passengers took the opportunty to hold the torch and make a wish for peace while on the ferry.

A big "Thank you" to the Sæferðir Company for supporting the WHR! The captain, Unnar Valby Gunnaarsson receiving a T-shirt from Pranava.

Við þökkum Sæferðum kærlega fyrir hjálpina og Skipstjóranum Unnar Valby Gunnaarsson fyrir frábæra ferð yfir fjörðinn.

Puffins everywhere.

Lundinn allstaðar.

Minor trouble on the high seas.

Smá vandamál á hafi úti.

We met many kids from Stykkishólmi.

Við hittum fullt af krökkum frá Stykkishólmi.

Local workers dressed up unusually: the bottom was overalls, tops shirt and ties just for the run.

Alvöru karlmenn:) klæddu sig upp fyrir hlaupið og fögnuðu hlaupurunum vel.

Finding peace.

Fundið fyrir friðnum.

No one is excluded.

Allir eru með.

Everyone gets a stamp, also the coach.

Allir fá stimpil, líka þjálfarinn.

20 footballs shot at the same time.

20 boltum skotið á sama tíma.

Eydís and Helga recevied the Certificate on behalf of the town of Stykkishólmur.

Eydís og Helga taka við viðurkenningaskjalinu fyrir hönd stykkishólmar.

See you next time.

Sjáumst sem fyrst aftur.

Jessica from Washington DC saw us on the ferry and wanted to join us at the ceremony. We hope to see her again in DC. Thank you for your enthusiasm for world harmony!

Jessica frá Ameríku sá okkur á Ferjunni og vildi koma á athöfnina.

... back on the road.

... aftur út á veg.

Running into Grundarfjörður

hlaupið á Grundarfjörð.

A very old lava-field coverd with moss.

... gömul hraunbreiða klædd með mosa.

Lukas on the run.

...Lukas á hlaupum.

Snæfellsjökull standing tall and majestic.

Snæfelljökull stendir stór og tignarlegur.

See the recent Youtube video on African experience which illustrates IYY slogan "Our Year Our Voice"  International Year of Youth - Zambia World Harmony. They surprisingly mention Presidents and UN Secretary-General in a unique way!
