Luxembourg 19 April: Diekirch - Trier

School day in Luxembourg!

We started early morning in Diekirch;...

Schouldag zu Lëtzebuerg!

Mir hunn zu Diekirch ugefaangen...

...despite the rainy morning many happy faces greeted us for this first meeting...

...trotz dem verreenten Moien, hunn eis vill glécklech Gesiichter bei eisem éischten Treffe begréisst...

The kids had great fun running around the school and escaping their daily routines...

D'Kanner hate vill Freed ronderëm d'Schoul ze lafen an hiren alldeegleche Routinen z'entkommen...

Thank you Diekirch!

Merci Diekirch!

...we went on and reached soon Vianden. The old castle thrones majestic above the old historic community...

... mir si weidergelaf an hunn Veianen erreecht. Déi al Buerg trount majestätesch iwwert der historescher Gemeng...

...the children from the local primary school welcomed us on the school yard...

...d'Schüler vun der Primärschoul hunn eis an hire Haff begréisst...

...even the smallest ones!

...souguer déi Klengsten!

...everybody passed the torch and took a wish for peace!

...jiddereen huet d'Fakel gehalen an e Wonsch fir de Fridde gemaach!

...a group picture completed the joyful meeting!

...eng Gruppephoto huet dat lëschteg Treffen ofgeschloss!

...after Vianden we ran most of the time along the border to Germany. The river is the green border; a cycling path along the river was the perfect scenic running route...

...no Veianen si mir laanscht d'Our an d'Sauer gelaf, eng wonnerschéi Lafstreck...

...dutch tourists...

...hollänesch Touristen...

...and a picknick...

...Picknick...

...at noon we reached Echternach, our last meeting in Luxembourg!

...géint Mëtteg hu mir Iechternach erreecht, eist lescht Treffen zu Lëtzebuerg!

Just on the way into Echternach it started to rain cats and dogs...

Kuerz virun Iechternach huet et ugefaangen ze schëdden...

...we met a large group of students, wo awaited us despite the heavy rain...

... mir hunn e grousse Grupp vu Schüler getraff, déi trotz dem Reen op eis gewaart hunn...

...all together we ran through the pictuesque old part of Echternach...

... mir sinn allzesummen duerch den billerhaften Zentrum vun Iechternach gelaf...

...we were all wet but the faces were shining...

...mir waren all naass, awer d'Gesiichter hu gestrahlt...

...the school director addressed kind words to the runners...

...de Schouldirekter huet d'Leefer begréisst...

Thank you Echternach for the great meeting!

Merci Iechternach fir de schéine Rendez-Vous!

We said Good Bye to Luxembourg and to our hosts: although the country is very small, it has a very big heart! The World Harmony Run is eager to come back as soon as possible!

Mir hu Lëtzebuerg Äddi gesot; obschonns et ganz kleng ass, huet et e grousst Häerz! De World Harmony Run ass äifreg drop nees erëmzekommen!

Welcome to Germany!

Häerzlech wëllkommen an Däitschland!

As soon as we crossed the border we reached the oldest city of Germany: Trier!

Soubal mir d'Grenz iwwerschratt haten, si mir an déi eelsten Stad vun Däitschland komm: Tréier!

Vasanti, our local coordinator, enjoys her first steps with the torch...

D'Vasanti, eis lokal Koordinatorin, huet hir éischt Schrëtt mat der Fakel genoss...

We ended the day in the city Hall of Trier: Mr. Michels welcomed us on behalf of the mayor...

Mir hunn eisen Dag an der Gemeng vun Tréier ofgeschloss: den Herr Michels huet eis am Numm vum Buergermeeschter bergréisst..

...a warm meeting in traditional surroundings...

... e waarmen Empfank an engem traditionellen Entourage...

Thank you for the good start into Germany!

Merci fir de gudde Start zu Tréier!
