Slovenia 17 May: Bovec - Kranjska Gora (border)

We woke up in Bovec and a beautiful day greeted us! A clear blue sky promised us a day worthy of being the last one of the WHR in Slovenia!

We started again in the centre of Bovec and the representative of the local tourist organisation waved us of for our run over the mountains.

We followed the valley until we reached the source of the river Soca...

And here is the source....

A first short stop before we really went sky-wards...

With each climb we made our breath was literally taken away with the majestic peaks that surrounded us.

A most scenic panorama guarded us the whole climb up to Vrsic, a mountain pass 1611m high...

The mountians were dressed in snow, but the Sun was strong and the air clear and fresh as we made our way to the pass.

The final steps...

Some refreshments and cheers for the runners...

Finally we reached the top and enjoyed a well deserved break in the burning sun...

After a much easier run down we reached Kranjska Gora, the famous skiing resort in Slovenia.

The deputy mayor and the representative from the local tourist organisation welcomed us and treated us for a gorgeous lunch!

We reached the border to Italy and the deputy mayor carried the flaming torch. He handed it over to the deputy mayor of Tarvisio from Italy!

The deputy mayor of Tarvisio carries the torch into Italy!

Our team takes of for the next country: Italy!

Again all our sincere gratitude to all our Slovenian friends for all your hospitality, organisation and a most beautiful running experience. We are truly honored to carry your wishes for friendship and harmony with us!
