Suomi-Finland 17 May: Helsinki - Pyhtää

Paavo Nurmi greeted us as we started at the Olympic Stadion in Helsinki...

...it was about to become a quiet day, as it was banking day in Finland: everything was closed...

...early afternoon we reached Porvoo. A group of runners was welcoming us and joined us on our way to the historic, traditional main square..

...a small presentation...

City council member and MP Mrs. Mikaela Nylander received the torch and gave a wonderful speech...

...a few steps for peace and harmony...

Thank you Porvoo for the warm welcome!

...family gathering...

the local boxing team posed for us..

...we left Porvoo and got ready for the remaining km's of the day...

...a most inspiring family of athletes...

...in the evening we reached our accommodation on the sea shore. We enjoyed the serene, remote nature of Finland...
