New Zealand 7 March: Breakfast at Piopio

Today was fantastic! The third day of the 2012 World Harmony Run New Zealand and what a day it was! Having covered over 100km of running the day before the runners were well in need of a sustaining breakfast to fuel them for the event-filled day ahead. We were presented with a glorious display of generosity and hospitality at its finest. The town of Piopio opened their hearts enormously, instigated by the owner of the Fat Pigeon Cafe Melanie Simpson, providing us with a banquet of delicacies. Fresh strawberries and fruit donated by a local orchard, tomatoes gifted by a local grower and homemade muesli, hash browns, delicious scrambled eggs on toast, homemade baked beans and fresh juice from Melanie and her team.

What more could we need? It really blew us away and was completely gifted free of charge to get behind and support The World Harmony Run and the persuit for peace, goodwill and friendship in the world. Long live the town of Piopio and long live The Fat Pigeon cafe where we discovered excellent standards, incredibly tasty food, made with a lot of care and wonderful people! Thank you.

Melanie Simpson and her cheerful team.
