Italy 25 April: Incoronato - Altamura

This is a picture of our best Italian coordinator Stefano Cenni with his small car that broke down last night. So now he is also broke, but he still managed to laugh about it. Stefano, you are just amazing! We feel very sad that you have to leave us today.

Luckily we welcomed a new runner Sandro, who helped us run some of our many kilometres this morning.

This "Ponte Romano" is one of the many old original bridges that you can find in the Italian countryside.

Stefano Lanzalone is cruising through the beautiful landscape of Puglia region.

Artur was jumping with joy when he found a beautiful field of deep purple flowers.

Castel del Monte is a very unusual and old castle built in 1240 by Federico II, the King of Jerusalem. People say it's a special esoteric place and you can find it on the list of UNESCO world heritage. It's built in octagonal shape for some special reason that we don't know.

After a short visit we had to continue on our journey.

As we were running on the small side roads we found ourselves in another beautiful field of flowers

And more yellow flowers as far as the eye could see.

We were welcomed at the borders of the city of Altamura by enthusiastic runners from the local athletic club who accompanied us through the whole city.

Local citizens were cheering us on he way....

...as well as police!

Assossore of sport Giovanni Saponaro waited for us at the main square full of people. He also helped us with our accommodation at Azienda agrituristica Madonna dell'Assunta which is a part of a big farm full of cows, sheep, cute goats and sometimes runners...we felt like at home!

This is a letter that we have received from the local runners of Athletic Club of Altamura :

"We are grateful to you for making us part of your excellent initiative and we wholeheartedly wish you good luck for the rest of your journey. We are HONOURED that we have met you again this year and we hope to see you in the future. We feel and we are with you in bringing harmony on the world's roads with this run. Thank you all and see you soon."
