Italy 14 June: Lienz - Cortina d'Ampezzo

We started out from Lienz this morning, for our last kilometres in Austria; high mountains on both sides provided a topographical guard of honour for our trip to the border.

In Sillian, almost a whole school was waiting for us along the main road; the kids carried the torch to the main square, where the mayor and smaller children awaited us, and we spent some nice time there.

After refreshments, the kids accompanied us to the end of the village.

Finally, we reached the border and so, a very successful Run in Austria came to an end for this year. Thanks to everybody who supported us and made this event possible!

Once again, the World Harmony Run entered Italy!

We spent the next little while running through picturesque mountain scenery, with all its majestic rocks, lakes and forest!

Where are the cows?

Finally, we reached Cortina d'Ampezzo, a famous winter Olympic venue. As we are not visiting schools till tomorrow, it was a relatively quiet reception.

Runners from Atletica Cortina waited for us at the entrance to the city, to join us running to the main square where the city representative for sport welcomed us.

Television reporters were there and we received nice banners from the city.

In the evening we were invited for a dinner which required special eating capacities: it was really good and way too much! Thanks for the hospitality.
