Italy 15 June: Cortina d'Ampezzo - Treviso

We spent a wonderful night in Cortina d'Ampezzo, in the Casa per Ferie delle Orsoline; many thanks to our kind hosts. They spoiled us with tons of Italian food! Fortunately the first 50 kilometres today were down hill...

As it is school holiday time in Italy at the moment, we are taking the opportunity to visit pre-schoolers; they are so sweet and uncomplicated - it's real fun!

The first infant school we went to is the Scuola dell'Infanzia Don Pietro Frenademez in Cortina. The kids were really sweet! They even sang a song for us!

In Ponte, we visited the Scuola Materna Stat. Di Ponte Nelle Alpi. Even the deputy mayor and the sport representative of the city came!

Giancarlo and Enrico gave an excellent and entertaining performance!

As Cortina is quite high above sea-level, we ran downhill the whole day. This is great fun, as we move quite fast.

In the afternoon, we arrived in Vitorrio Veneto. First we went to City Hall, where the sport representative received us. A few local runners joined us for the next event, at Scuola Materna Gianni Rodari S. Pietro e Paolo.

After some highly welcomed refreshments we went on to Conegliano, where the mayor greeted us.

With just 27 kilometres to go, everything seemed to be fine. Suddenly, dark clouds moved in and then the rain started! The heavens opened and our runners got soaked! But the rain was quite warm, so we took it as a nice shower...

Not dry yet...

Our last runner, Enrico from Italy, got the highest score; when he went out in the rain, he was drenched within seconds. However he remained cheerful throughout his run, ending in Treviso where we all met with the city representative, who kindly treated us to snacks and drinks.
